Boy Genius with Chopsticks

The waitresses make these chopsticks that are essentially tweezers — they take a folded piece of paper and wedge it between the sticks, wrap a rubber band around the contraption and there you go, chopsticks for the wee ones. Henry ate every bit of his food with these — the edamame, teriaki chicken, bits of seaweed, cut-up dragon roll. He was a gastronomic rock star and we were all in awe of him.

My favorite restaurant in our fair city! Start 'em early on sushi and they'll eat just about anything.

    Brilliant!

We've had waiters/waitresses at Japanese and Chinese restaurants make these for our kids too. Sometimes they have a jar of them already made up.

We also have these — originally known as "Rookie Stix" for home use. We brought them to a Japanese restaurant once and the waiters were tickled!

We were so excited that the boys would eat sushi when they were 4 to 8 or so. We went often. It was fun for all. Now that they're 9 and 11, we can't go without taking out a loan! I look forward to going with them again when they stop growing sometime in their mid-20s :)

Dude. I need chopsticks like that. Can't "work" them for anything. :)

    Yay, Henry!

I'm 36 and can't use chopsticks, and would've been late teens before I dared to each sushi. Henry is going to make you proud what a champion.
