1817 1817_ () 1817 1817 We had a very busy weekend and I spent all day yesterday recovering.
Actually, I spent all day yesterday doing laundry and it’s got me thinking that maybe I don’t really adore doing laundry as much as I thought. Paul and three of the boys went camping and you can only imagine how many dirty clothes that generated. Camping is not for wimps — and even those who don’t actually go on the trip can’t be wimpy about the mess that will await when the campers return.
One of our boys got lost on that trip this weekend, and was found two hours later. It hasn’t really sunk in, and maybe that’s a good thing. It was my biggest fear whenever we discussed this trip and it happened. And we (and that boy) made it through. Thank you Lord.
For now, I will go switch over the LAST! (woo-hooo) load of wash from the trip (one last blanket and some camping towels) and enjoy starting a day that doesn’t have me staring at a laundry room filled with once-white but now-black socks and those desperately-sought long johns that did indeed get worn (every single moment of the trip).
Also, as I was picking through one pile, I discovered a “packet” of undies, four pairs of tighty–whities layered in a way that could only occur through a boy putting them on one pair at a time but indeed all at one time.
“Did you wear your undies like this,” I asked, holding up the white square.
“No!,” he declared, “I mean, yeah, I think I did.”
I guess whatever it takes to keep warm is the name of the game. 1817″> ?

Camping laundry is THE WORST!! We go on a big family trip every summer with a couple of other families and while I really enjoy the freedom and fun of camping, I HATE the days and days and days of laundry generated by 4 boys and a husband. Ugh. There is a certain smell about camping laundry that just doesn't show up anywhere else in nature. What is that about??
haaa haaa! LOL! at least he WORE his undies and not just the same one 3 days in a row!!!
As for the laundry deal….the way I start my day most days in the laundry room…argh. And I do not like laundry one bit! But today I had a few helpers (my young kids) and they mixed up the piles of dirty and clean. So now I am sniffing all their clothes to see if clean or not! Boys! Kids! Gotta love 'em!

I love the undies incident — it made me laugh out loud! But like Mary said — at least he wore them! We have disconcertingly few pairs of underwear come through our weekly laundry heap and it always makes me cringe.
My breath caught in my throat when I read about your son getting lost…..every mother's worst fear. Glad everything turned out ok.
You mean you were spared the joy of having to clean a tent at home?!?! Not fair …
Thank goodness for guardian angels!
Regarding the underwear: layering is the best way to keep warm…
😉
Rachel,
I had a daughter lost for two hours one summer evening. I have never felt so helpless in my life. It was terrifying. How do people live without Our Lady?!
