This post ends abruptly, because it’s bedtime for the boys

See this mess? This was dumped just to the left of my desk in the study. It’s cool; it kept Henry occupied for quite some time.

A while ago, I sat on the computer to “check on something on Facebook” and when I turned my head again, Paul had picked up this entire mess. It’s all clean. What a man. Does this speak more to the time-sucking abilities of Facebook or the speediness of my main man?

Today we stayed at the pool from the start of swim team (9 a.m.) until 3 p.m. What a day! We had a good time and it’s especially fun now that Henry prefers the water to roaming around the pool aimlessly. That is such a challenging stage, when the toddler doesn’t “get” the pool scene and instead thinks we are there so the momma can chase the little one for two hours while the other kids have a good time.

The last few days, Henry has started jumping off the side and doing some modified swimming and it’s all so much fun. Much better than where we were at just a few weeks ago.

The thing about Henry is: he is the friendliest child we have ever had. If you know my family in person, you understand Henry does not come from a long-line of wallflowers (Paul’s family isn’t unfriendly or anything; it’s just tough to compete with the outgoing nature of my peeps). Henry seems to take after my dad and my brothers: everywhere we go, Henry makes a friend.

Today at the pool, he was playing with his cousin at the baby pool. I walked over after a few minutes of sitting on the other side of the fence and a woman there said, “so this is Henry? And he is three?” They also knew about Isabel, the other boys and my recently-published book (no, that last part isn’t true, but wouldn’t it be nice to have such great P.R.?).

Henry is SO cute. I think we deserve to see little videos of him telling about himself and his fam! ha!

I have a child like that – never met a stranger amd everyone is his new best friend. I was laughing at the Lego mess — the happiest sound to any mother of lego-loving boys, in my opinion, is the sound of one of those tiny, foot-injuring pieces being sucked up in the vacuum…..!!

My children lack the "shy" gene too and oh my goodness it can be frightening for me when we are in a setting like the 'town pool' and they are all making friends left and right (I have 9), but I love there zest and charisma!

I am shy. Not online, but in person I would rather die than strike up conversation with a stranger which is a direct result of my father being my father. My mother is a wide-open Italian. My husband cannot go anywhere without meeting someone he already knows. My son Joey, not only looks like my husband, he seems to have that, I know you by osmosis thing. I am jealous.

Glad to hear the aimless wandering ends. We are right in the thick of it with my daughter, and we're looking forward to the day she ceases the more lone ranger behavior and starts to run more with the pack. How many times can you chase a kid to the nearest gate/door/escape/hazard???

My oldest is like that and tells everyone he's life story whether they want to hear it or not. LOL I was wondering if you took Isabel w/ you to the pool for the day and how did you keep her cool? My Jake is the same age and I'm always afraid he'll get to hot if I take him w/ me and the boys to the pool.

So THAT'S what you do with all those blasted leggos! I've tried in vain to keep them all neatly together along with their instructions in the boxes they came in. UGH! Obviously that hasn't worked. Leggos are the bane of my existence! I find those things EVERYWHERE. I think now I'm going to do just as you have – just put all of those pieces in one container and tell my boys to "have at it!"
