Ten Surprising Things

1962 1962_ () 1962 1962 There is a sweet new blog on the block that I came across when writing about infertility over at Faith and Family Live last week. Mrs. Henderson writes at Still Standing and she tagged me to share ten surprising things about me. Thanks, dear one!

I was thinking that as I’ve been blogging here for a long time (in Internet years) there might not be much you don’t know about me. I figure, what I’m willing to answer I have already revealed, and all the other stuff maybe I don’t want anyone to know!

I’ll give this a try and then if there is something about me you are just dying to know, you can ask in the comments and then we’ll go from there.

1. I am left-handed.

2. My husband is eight years older than me. When we got married, he was 30 and that sounded so ancient I was almost embarrassed to admit it. “Oh, he’s older,” I once joked with a colleague. “He’s, like, 43! Justkiddinghe’s30!” Because 30 didn’t sound quite as old after saying that other, higher number.

3. I have had the same best friend since I was four. My two other best buddies I have known since I was eight. (This doesn’t count family members of course.)

4. This past June, I bought a pair of Saucony running shoes. That was my first pair of non-Asics running shoes in over ten years. I really love Asics, but must admit the Saucony are doing great.

5. I have brand-loyalty issues. I am loathe to change the following: laundry detergent (Cheer); running shoes (see above); (ahem) bra manufacturer (Wacoal); toothpaste (Sensodyne); and mayonnaise (Dukes, baby!).

6. My children attend the same school from which Paul and I both graduated. Paul was the very first graduate of this small, Christian school (but I guess that’s something you didn’t know about Paul, and I guarantee that boy will never start a blog).

7. Annnnd we’re through. I can’t really think of anything else and this already feels a bit self-indulgent (unlike, you know, the rest of the blog).

UPDATED: My sister just emailed, after reading this post:

“I came up with the last 3 for you- you “dip” your hamburger/chicken sandwich, etc when you eat them (that is kinda weird), you tuck your hair behind your ear when you are public speaking, you have a deep love for unsweetened tea.”

To be honest, these are things about myself I didn’t even realize! (except for the love of tea)

So ask away. And then I’ll tag…

1. Jen at Conversion Diary
2. Dorian at Scrutinies
3. Melanie B. at Wine Dark Sea
4. Danielle
5. Ambrose over in China
6. and Kelly who’s over in the Sheepfold

and YOU! And thanks again, Mrs. Henderson. God bless you and your journey. 1962″> . .

What is a pet peeve of yours that everyone knows about? For example, one of mine is the phrase "pet peeve" and people being really peppy in the morning.. LOL

P.S. you would be ashamed of my blog! I'm continually writing about me, me, me! Perhaps I should take a cue from you, you, you! LOL

  2. Saucony's rule! I got my first pair last year before running the half-marathon, and I am hooked. Even my hubby and oldest son have a pair now 🙂

  3. I also love unsweet iced tea! 🙂

  4. Thanks, Rachel. I'm not sure I can think of ten surprising things; but I'll give it a shot.

  5. after a knee injury I am finally able to start running again, I have never owned a pair of Saucony running shoes, I too am brand loyal. What made you change your mind? I have always been an Asics person myself. also, I am also lefthanded and prefer cheer, dukes mayonnaise and unsweetned ice tea.(decaf) and sensodyne toothpaste. I wonder if its one of those weird left handed things?

  6. Jen Ambrose says:

I did mine & it was hard. Don't hate me too much 🙂
