A Love Note

Today is the day, the official day I came into this world. Yippee! Life is so wonderful!

I was reflecting on this day , and on the sweetest little text my dad sent me yesterday, on the eve of my birthday. He and my mom were sending me greetings all the way from over yonder in their cottage right next door. They wished me an early happy birthday, and told me just how much they loved me.

As I stood there, reading that text, taking a short break in the midst of my harried, hurried evening, I was overcome with gratitude for these fine people who gave me life. What a gift — not just that they got me here to planet Earth, but for all the time and energy and love and care and concern and just plain Number One Fan support they have always given me. What a gift to have life. What a gift to have a really good life, raised by good people who want only the best for you.

Mom and Dad, thank you so much for, well, for it all. I love you dearly and I’m so very pleased God sent me to you both. I am proud to be yours.

That’s my brother Zach kissing my mom. But we look a lot alike.

I am so glad you are in this world!

  3. Happy Birthday, Rachel! Enjoy your trip to Italy – so exciting! The proverbial “they” say that 40 is the new 25, but honestly the 40′s are much better! May you continue to grow in wisdom and joy, and find daily moments of peace during this busy season of your life. And I agree, your parents are pretty awesome.

  7. No way! Happy Birthday to you (and to me)! I spent years growing up thinking our birthday was the rarest of things because NO ONE I knew except my dad’s stepdad had our birthday. Now I know I share the day with one of my favorite bloggers. I wish you a fabulous day filled with God’s blessings!!! Enjoy!!!

This brought on a bit of homesickness, because I, too, am the oldest of my parents’ large brood, and had the same wonderful support growing up. I am so happy for you that you have them right there with you! (And ROFL that your brother looks almost like you! :)

  11. Happy belated birthday Rachel! I love your blog and your book and was delighted to discover that not only do we share a first name, our husbands share first names, and we also share a birthday! However, I have 2 little girls and no boys (yet). I hope you had a very happy day.
