Remember when I used to blog? Remember when we used to be a family? Can you believe so much time went by without me saying a darn thing to you peeps?
Yes, so can I.
Sorry, you might have to learn to just start skipping the first few sentences of my posts, especially if I keep up this alarming trend of posting hardly never. Because I feel compelled to point out that I know that you know that it’s been since Tuesday and I owe the Internets something don’t I? What? I don’t owe anyone anything?!
So, to bring you up to speed…
1. I went to Savannah this week to speak to a group of wonderful ladies and gentlemen and it was a very nice evening. I had my talk all written but was feeling very unsure about it, and it finally occurred to me (after the event) that what I had written up was based on something I give at retreats. This gathering was parents at a school parent night. Not the same kind of audience! So I had the talk written and about 25 minutes before I asked Sister Lisa, the evening’s organizer, if she was wanting something more spiritual or more practical?
“Some of each would be great,” she replied.
“Did I see a sign for an adoration chapel nearby,” I asked her. And down the hall I went, where I sat and in ten minutes rewrote my talk, which I then presented as “25 Things I’m Doing to Observe the Year of Faith.” I must say that the Holy Spirit was my Main Man in this situation as I could tell that the parents were encouraged and entertained (except that one lady who kept trying not to fall asleep God bless her there’s one in every crowd).
The really best part about the evening was my own personal driver who brought me there — my dad! I had the option of staying in a hotel or staying at the convent or driving home. The talk ended at 8:30 and I only live 2.5 hours from Savannah. So it was hard to consider not driving home that night, but it was also going to be dark with deer lurking at every port AND not on the highway and I was really torn and my dad called out of the blue and offered to drive me there and back. We brought Augie along for the ride and it was a really nice evening. Thanks dad!
Well shoot, I totally had something important to share with you, way back when I started this post. And now I can’t think of it, but at least we’ve moved the other, super-stale post a little further down the page.
Just for kicks, I’ll include this awesome photo, for visual interest and to give the impression that I’m a real blogger. The kind with a super fresh blog.
