Birthday Party = New Weapons

Me: Augie, please don’t shoot that gun at close range. Someone will get hurt.

Augie: But it’s supposed to hurt.

Doesn’t Taste Like Victory

1072 1072_ () 1072 1072 I need to go get a dress for Henry’s baptism. I recently bought a new dress for a wedding we attended — a dress that “worked” perfectly in the store, but then not so much at the wedding. It was loose fitting and fashionable, and just right for having a nursing baby and all the fun details that go along with that.

Unfortunately, the dress only “worked” if I was actually holding Henry. Because then people would realize in the process of childbirth, I was after, instead of before.

At one point, early in the evening, I walked to the drink table and left Henry with Paul. A gentleman I know, but had not seen in a while, came up to me.

“I see you’re planning for the future,” he said with a smile.

“I actually just had a baby four weeks ago,” I said with a smile (my smile was a bit more forced than his).

And that is why I’m not inclined to wear this same dress to the baptism. Even though everyone there will obviously know and understand I just had a baby. It’s just sort of awkward.

“I don’t know why it’s a problem,” said Paul this morning when I explained my plans to go shopping.

“That guy thought I was pregnant,” I said.

“But you’re not,” said Paul. “He was wrong, you were right. You win.” 1072″>
